Bischel Appenheimer Spätburgunder Premier Cru dry 75cL WineBy Winebuyers

£37.75

This Spätburgunder Premier Cru has a delicate, velvety fruitiness and a fine, spicy tannin structure, as well as a long lasting finish. It has stimulating aromas of fully ripe wild berry fruit, cherry and cassis, as well as hints of smoky wood. The grapes come from Bischel's Pinot Noir vineyards in Appenheim, where calcareous soils from the Eselspfad site give the wine its mineralic character. The vineyards are situated 100m above sea level, with a south-facing slope that's warmed by the sun, ensuring a high degree of ripeness from the small berried Burgundy grapes. The wine is made by selecting grapes by hand, fermenting with natural yeast in open vats, and aging for 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered.
