This 75cl Bischel 2023 Gau-Algesheim Riesling 'Terra Fusca' Premier Cru dry is a wine from Winebuyers. With a little air, the nose reveals aromas of wild herbs, grapefruit, and peach. The fruit and minerality intensify on the palate, and this Riesling's long finish has flavours of fresh stone fruit and salty hints. The grapes come from the oldest Riesling vineyards in Gau-Algesheim's St. Laurenzikapelle, where the soil is characterised by tertiary shell limestone and clay marl. The steep, south-east facing slope allows the grapes to ripen very slowly, producing a juicy Riesling with a cool minerality and wild notes of herbs and grapefruit. A very late harvest of the highly ripe grapes is staggered by hand, and for optimal extraction of aromas, the grapes are gently crushed in the winery and left to stand in their own juice for a few hours. After gentle pressing, the juice fermented with natural yeast in stainless steel vats. After eight months of maturation, the wine was bottled. This wine has an alcohol content of 12.5% vol. and a residual sugar of 4.8 g/l. It's suitable for both men and women.
