This Becker 2020 'Becker Family' Spätburgunder QbA dry is a wine that's sure to please. Grown on rare limestone soil with heavy topsoil of loam and clay, the vines are 19 to 43 years old. The grapes were hand harvested and de-stemmed, then macerated for 14 to 21 days to extract all the flavours and aromas from the grape-skins into the juice. The juice was fermented in big oak-barrels, left on the lees for almost 12 months, and then fermented again in oak-barrels for 18 months to gain even more flavour and complexity. This wine has a pleasant, clear ruby red colour with dark reflections. The nose is filled with the scent of wild berries, tobacco, spices, and forest floor. On the palate, it's juicy, elegant, with good length and structure. It's a wine that's perfect for everyday drinking, and can be enjoyed at a temperature of 15 to 17°C. This wine is suitable for both men and women.
