This Duo contains two limited release Single Malt Whiskies from pioneering eco-distillery Cooper King: Pioneer This whisky brings together notes of rich, dried fruit and vanilla from premium wine and sherry casks, interwoven with layers of ginger and toasted oak from Kentucky rye whiskey casks. Adding water releases hints of marzipan and toast on the nose, followed by generous helpings of baked apple, dried hay and a luxurious, vanilla pastry sweetness on the palate. The finish is elegant, with a tingling of rye spice on the tongue, enticing you back for more. - Abbie Jaume, Head Distiller Nose: Vanilla custard, cola cubes, baked apple and marzipanPalate: Ginger biscuits, dried fig, rye spice and toasted oakFinish: Medium-long with stewed fruit and ginger cake Sundown Sundown is a celebration of American oak. Matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon casks, it opens with inviting aromas of biscuity banoffee pie and toasted nuts. On the palate, chewy vanilla and mint chocolate are carried on a backbone of malt and toasted oak - thanks in part to the small 100 litre casks used for maturation. The finish is sublime, with dried fruit and lingering, warming spice. - Abbie Jaume, Head Distiller Nose: banoffee pie, biscuit, ripe pear and hazelnutPalate: baking spices, mint chocolate, malt and crème caramelFinish: medium-long with raisin, tobacco and warming spice The distillery is run on 100% green energy! Cooper King has also joined the international environmental initiative '1% For The Planet', donating 1% of the gin's annual sales to charity. Additionally, the distillery removes 1kg more CO2e from the atmosphere than it emits by working with a verified offsetting scheme, and plants 1 square metre of UK native woodland, for each bottle sold. Pretty impressive! Founded in 2016 by Dr Abbie Neilson and Chris Jaume after a stint in Tasmania learning at distilleries there, Cooper King is based 10 miles north of York.
