Queen of Night is the tulip that earns its reputation every spring: deep, velvety maroon so dark it reads almost black in certain light, on 60cm stems in late April to May. An heirloom variety classified in 1944 that still outperforms most of the dark tulips that have followed it. Plant alongside Narcissus Thalia for a classic dark and white contrast.
