Tulip Purissima is the most reliable of the Fosteriana (Emperor) tulips: a large, pure ivory-white flower with a soft yellow base on 45cm stems, flowering from early April. Emperor tulips are wider and more open than standard tulips and one of the most perennial types if given good drainage. Plant it with Muscari Armeniacum for a timeless white and cobalt combination.
