Cumbria hosts the Lakes Distillery, founded in 2011 by Paul Currie, co-founder of Isle of Arran Distillery. Situated within a renovated farmstead by River Derwent in a national park, they innovate due to limited space, using custom stills for whisky and a smaller one for Lakes Gin/Vodka. Whisky master Dhavall Ghandi joined in 2016, infusing tradition with fresh inspiration. The Lakes introduced The Whiskymakers Reserve in 2019, a series of single malts. Located near Penrith, it's a gem of heritage and innovation.
