Due to the fact that the Ki-61 had owned a liquid-cooled engine the Hien was apparently mistaken for a German aircraft and was therefore nicknamed Tony. The fighter aircraft experienced the first combat operations in early 1943 and proved that it was quite competitive with a top speed of 580 km/h. The TAMIYA model kit version impresses with its high accuracy of fit as well as by attention to detail. Suitable for the 1:48 fighter aircraft the Kurogane reconnaissance vehicle in scale 1:48 rounds off the diorama.
