Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2010 Red Wine 75cLBy Winebuyers

£389

1 x 75cl. The producer, Poggio di Sotto, is a relative newcomer to Brunello di Montalcino, founded by Piero Palmucci in 1989. The estate is located in the south-eastern corner of the region, around Castelnuovo dell’Abate, and is known for its traditional approach to Brunello di Montalcino, with wines maturing on traditional Slavonian oak botti, allowing the grape material and vineyards to express themselves. The estate has only 16 hectares of vineyards, entirely planted to Sangiovese and organically farmed, producing only 3,000 cases of wine per year. The wine is made from fruit derived from high hills overlooking the Orcia River valley, with vineyards at three different altitudes used to achieve balanced wines. The Brunello Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages, and ferments and macerates in 70 hl Slavonian oak.
