Narcissus lobularis, the Lent Lily, is one of Britain's oldest native daffodils: small, nodding and bicoloured in pale yellow and deep gold, flowering in March. It naturalises beautifully in damp meadow grass and is one of the most reliable bulbs for year-on-year increase. Plant it with Camassia or Fritillaria meleagris for a historic meadow planting.
