K. F. Groebe's 2022 Morstein Riesling Grand Cru is a dry wine. Fritz Groebe tells us that they originally planted Silvaner and then Scheurebe in this vineyard, but had to rip the vines out and replant due to esca, so they replanted with Riesling. This wine is made from three-year-old vines. They've had the vineyard for 250 years, but this is their first Morstein GG Riesling. The wine spent a lot of time on full lees, and its energy is radiant, ripe, and rippling with flavors of orange fruit, passion fruit, and bright acidity. It's a cracking wine that's packed with kumquat, quince, and craquelure. At this super-young stage, its radiance is almost blinding, but it will quieten and take on a more intensely restrained, disciplined, sculpted glow in the years to come. This wine is suitable for both men and women.
