Iona 'Elgin Highlands' Chardonnay 2023 is a stylish and burgundian white wine, demonstrating its relative value. It has bright citrus, white stone fruit, oyster shell minerality and a hint of brioche. The purity of fruit combined with well-judged oak and bright freshness result in a wine that is layered and complex with a lingering finish. Enjoy with lobster or turbot in a cream sauce, shellfish, or chicken. This well-priced Chardonnay is made from grapes from five blocks, featuring different soil types and aspects. It is wild fermented in 20% new wood, with an equal amount of malolactic, resulting in a lovely citrus core, layers of toast and wet stone, and very subtle oak spices. It has a rating of 93 points from Tim Atkin's South Africa Report 2024.
