iBasso DX340 MAX Digital Audio Player

£3,499

iBasso DX340 MAX The DX340MAX, as the ultimate evolution of the DX340, has been further enhanced from the original 128 discrete PWM-DACs to an impressive 160 PWM-DACs. The number of PWM-DACs is more than eight times that of other portable discrete DACs devices. This is not just an increase in quantity but also a more stringent requirement for clock precision and algorithm scheduling. Through a complete overhaul of the circuit design and wiring optimization, the entire device's AP measured THD+N as low as -122dB, which is comparable to desktop DACs using 1bit architecture priced at 13,000 USD. For discrete 1bit architecture, the mountain is high, but the summit has been reached. FPGA-Master 3.0 In-house Developed Algorithms Accumulation The DX340MAX is equipped with FPGA-Master 3.0 technology, which is built on years of in-house developed algorithms by iBasso. The new FPGA chip has 7.5 times the number of LUT logic units compared to version 2.0. FPGA-Master 3.0 serves as the main audio controller, directly requesting audio data from the SoC. It is paired with two Accusilicon femtosecond oscillators with the phase noise as low as -158 dBc/Hz@1kHz, achieving fully synchronized single-clock operation. This creates picosecond-level precise control for the PWM-DACs, minimizes jitter as much as possible, and builds a pure digital audio system, ensuring every note is accurate, clear, and detailed. Leveraging the powerful performance of the new FPGA the DX340MAX incorporates numerous new algorithms for even and odd harmonic adjustment, resulting in rich overtones and more distinctive sound characteristics. Increasing even harmonics makes the sound closer to that of a tube amplifier, while increasing odd harmonics adds more passion and vitality. SoC + Audio DSP + FPGA-Master 3.0 More chips. More focused Some players, to simplify and lower cost, implement audio DSP functions by simulating DSP algorithms within the SoC using software decoding. Because the system SoC needs to run a complex operating system, its real-time performance and system-level jitter are severely compromised. Using the SoC for "software decoding" of DSP algorithms results in unavoidable deterioration of audio quality. To thoroughly resolve this issue, the DX340MAX is equipped with a dedicated professional-grade audio DSP chip. Thanks to this DSP's exceptional 192dB dynamic range and -174dB THD+N, it can achieve perfect audio conversion, while significantly reducing the load on the SoC. Meanwhile, FPGA-Master 3.0 serves as the main audio controller, independently managing all audio processing permissions. From a physical architecture perspective, it effectively solves the problem of sound pollution caused by the SoC handling complex operating systems. Four Batteries, Two Battery Management Systems Separated Digital/ Analog Power Supply Creates an Extra Measure of Musical Qaulity The DX340MAX uses four custom low-impedance lithium polymer batteries that support fast charging and discharging, with a lifespan and stability superior to ordinary lithium polymer batteries. It features two built-in battery management circuits, with the digital and analog sections independently powered by two separate battery packs. This ensures a stable power supply for the headphone amplifier and effectively isolates electromagnetic interference from the digital section, thus significantly reducing sound quality deterioration caused by inadequate power. The analog section is powered by two batteries connected in series, forming an 8.4V high-voltage battery pack. Compared to traditional single 4.35V batteries, this configuration provides a more stable continuous output voltage, stronger transient output capability, lower internal resistance, and less loss. Power supply capacity directly determines the upper limit of sound quality. The gap between single-battery and dual-battery power supplies cannot be bridged by circuitry or operational amplifiers. Abundant power is essential for delivering greater drive and outstanding dynamic performance. DC12V External Power Supply Patented Technology, Experience Powerful Dynamics The DX340MAX adopts the DC 12V external power supply technology, which has been awarded a national invention patent*. When connected to a 12V power source, it automatically bypasses the battery power, with the headphone amplifier powered directly by the 12V supply. The operating voltage of the headphone amplifier instantly rises to ±12V. At this point, the DC super-gain mode can be enabled, delivering a drive power of up to 2250mW + 2250mW @ 32Ω. Compared to the DX320MAX, which only supports battery pack power mode, the DX340MAX offers both battery pack and external power supply options, providing more possibilities and significantly stronger drive capability. Ultimate Cascaded Current Feedback Circuit Driving With Precision & Mastery A key upgrade in the DX340MAX over the AMP18 is the addition of a dedicated ...
