Georges Descombes, Saint Amour, Beaujolais 2016 is a red wine from the United Kingdom. It is a 75cL bottle. The wine shows beautiful aromatics of ripe black raspberry, black cherry and plum with rose and violet and hints of citrus. The palate is supple and sappy with earthy black raspberry and red currant fruit, with a lovely texture and firm saline acidity and stone flavors in the finish. While the wine is quite delicious now, two to five years of aging will bring a softer and more complex expression. George descombes took over the family business in 1988, Georges always recognised the importance of looking after the environment in order to produce quality wines. He transformed the vineyards and applied organic methods directly on its entire fifteen hectares. Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural yeasts in a cold semi-carbonic maceration in line with Beaujolais traditions. Low intervention, low sulphur practices are used throughout the wine making process. Saint-Amour is located in the north side of Beaujolais Cru, one of the smaller regions.
The Georges Descombes Saint Amour Beaujolais 2016 Red Wine would be ideal for pairing with medium-rare beef and French cheese dishes.
