Commonly known as the Saffron Crocus, the three red stigmas inside this autumn flowering flower are, in value, the gold equivalent of the plant world. Crocus Sativus should be planted on receipt in September and early October. They will bloom in six to eight weeks depending on when the order is placed and delivery and, if you're lucky with dry weather, you can harvest the stigmas early in the morning and dry for a delicious addition to many recipes.
