Chateau Potensac, Chapelle de Potensac, 2016

£21.45

ABOUT THE WINE. Chapelle de Potensac is the second wine of Château Potensac, crafted by the same esteemed team behind Château Léoville Las Cases. Sourced from younger vines and selected plots on the Potensac estate, this cuvée is designed for earlier enjoyment while retaining the structure and character of the Médoc. The 2016 vintage benefited from ideal conditions – a warm, dry summer followed by a perfectly timed harvest – producing wines of impressive balance, freshness and depth. Merlot leads the blend, lending a softer, more accessible style compared to the Grand Vin.. TASTING NOTES. The 2016 Chapelle de Potensac is supple and inviting, offering aromas of red cherry, blackberry and dried herbs. On the palate, it shows juicy plum, hints of mint and a touch of cedar and spice, framed by fine tannins and fresh acidity. A classic, medium-bodied Médoc with elegance and charm.. FOOD PAIRING. Ideal with roast meats, lamb shanks, or hearty dishes like beef stew or mushroom risotto. Also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. A refined and approachable Médoc from a top vintage – excellent value and ready to enjoy now, though it will continue to evolve for several more years.
