Chateau Figeac, 2014

£168.60

ABOUT THE WINE. Château Figeac is one of the most historic estates in Saint-Émilion, known for its gravel soils and Cabernet-dominant blend – unique on the Right Bank. The 2014 vintage was shaped by a mild summer followed by an excellent Indian summer, allowing for a long, even ripening period. The result is a beautifully classical expression of Figeac: elegant, structured and perfumed, with the precision and restraint of a cooler year. A vintage for purists and collectors alike.. TASTING NOTES. Refined and aromatic, with notes of redcurrant, black cherry, tobacco, violet, and graphite. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and layered, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and flavours of cassis, cedar, and crushed herbs. The finish is long and savoury, with excellent balance and finesse.. FOOD PAIRING. Perfect with herb-crusted lamb, roast guinea fowl, or a wild mushroom tart. Ideal with aged cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. Figeac 2014 is a restrained, elegant vintage that showcases the estate’s classical side. Approachable now but with the structure to age gracefully for years.
