One of the poster boys for stylish and modern Saint-Emilion, Canon is a wine that exudes black fruits, crushed herbs, and rocks with hints of warm spices; this is a totally alluring wine. Canon has 1er Grand Cru Classe B status and the 34 hectares of vineyards are located in the heart of Saint-Emilion, occupying most of the limestone plateau west of the village, but also with vineyards in the clay and alluvial rich soils further down slope. Typically, the wine is a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc, which is aged for an average of 18 months in up to 70% new oak barrels. The wine is derived from 30-year-old vines growing on Saint-Emilion's limestone plateau, and is widely known to be one of the best producers in the Libournais. The wine usually starts being ready to drink at around 10-15 years old. This wine is available in a 75cl size and is suitable for both men and women.
