Ch. Ausone Grand Cru Saint Emilion 2010 Red Wine 75cLBy Winebuyers

£1,195

Ch. Ausone, Grand Cru, Saint Emilion, 2010 is a 75cl red wine produced by Winebuyers. Ausone is the smallest of the first growth estates in Bordeaux, with only 7.3 hectares of vineyards. The estate is located on a steep south-east facing slope, with soils rich in limestone at the top and higher clay and alluvial content further down. Named after the Roman poet Ausonius, wine has been produced at Ch Ausone for at least four centuries. The Dubois-Challon-Vauthier family acquired the estate in the 17th century, and today's owner, Alain Vauthier, is a direct descendant. The wine is a blend of 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Merlot. Due to the small size of the vineyard and annual production, Ausone is often hard to find, especially since its seductive aromas and layers of rich and pure fruit make it a highly sought-after wine.
