Cascina Ebreo, Segreto Barbera, 2017

£54.55

Discover all the wines from Cascina Ebreo. ABOUT THE WINE. Founded in 1991 by Peter Weimer, Cascina Ebreo has built a reputation in Piedmont for crafting minimal-intervention wines with bold personality and depth. Their approach is rooted in organic farming, select use of biodynamic practices, and natural vinification with only a minimal addition of sulphur dioxide. The 2017 Segreto Barbera is sourced from a half-hectare plot within the esteemed Ravera cru vineyard — an exceptional terroir more commonly associated with Barolo. This bottling reflects the house philosophy: purity, expression, and a refusal to conform to convention.. TASTING NOTES. A vivid, lifted style of Barbera, with wild berries, wood-spice, and layers of herbal complexity on the nose. The palate is vibrant and textured, anchored by the grape’s signature bright acidity and offering a finish that’s both long and elegant. With a structure and finesse reminiscent of Burgundy Grand Cru, this is Barbera elevated to its highest form.. FOOD PAIRING. Superb with slow-cooked meat dishes such as beef stew or lamb ragù. Equally delicious with game meats, venison pie, or a rich mushroom and truffle risotto.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. Grown on prime Barolo territory, this Segreto Barbera is a striking example of what this grape can achieve in the hands of a thoughtful, natural winemaker. Beautiful now, and worthy of cellaring.
