Adnams Distiller's Choice First Fill Port Cask is chosen by John McCarthy the Head distiller. He tastes a selection of different spirits of various ages, and maturing in a variety of casks, with the aim of finding something extra special for the Distiller's Choice range. Back in 2015, a new spirit made from 100% East Anglian Malted Barley was put directly into a Port cask. The cask has added a real luxuriousness to the spirit with enticing aromas of toasted oak, bananas, and ripe blackberries. In the mouth, it is full and rich, with brown sugar sweetness, butterscotch, and raisin fruit, balanced by cinnamon and a pinch of peppery spice. The finish is long with oaky notes of vanilla and cocoa, and those amazing blackberries again. To serve, add a generous splash of chilled spring water. Presented in a smart branded gift box.
